Vasavi College of Engineering

Founded in 1981 by the Vasavi Academy of Education, Vasavi College of Engineering represents a rich tradition of excellence in technology-based education. A premier-league institution among the affiliates of Osmania University, Vasavi College of Engineering owes its vision to Sri Pendekanti Venkata Subbaiah, a veteran statesman of Independent India. Vasavi College of Engineering, in its 42 years of existence, is a reputed institution in Telangana. The college is ACCREDITED BY NAAC WITH ‘A++’ GRADE. The college offers seven UG (Civil, Mechanical, ECE, CSE, CSE AI & ML, EEE and IT) with a total sanctioned intake of 780 and Four PG programmes [ME (ES & VLSI); ME (ADM); ME (PS & PE); and M.Tech (CSE)] with total sanctioned intake of 48]. Located in the sylvan suburbs of Ibrahimbagh in Hyderabad, Vasavi College of Engineering presents a picturesque view flanked by the glorious Golconda Fort. Situated over a sprawling 12.7-acre campus with lush lawns, a beautiful landscape, aesthetic architecture and avant-garde infrastructure, the College epitomizes an exemplary setting for higher learning.

With dedicated efforts of over four decades, the College of Engineering has emerged as a centre of excellence in engineering education. Building purposive partnerships with the industry, bolstering its wherewithal continually and evolving innovative programmes consistent with changing times, Vasavi College of Engineering strives to maintain its pre-eminent position. The college has been granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi and Osmania University, Hyderabad, for all the programs for a period of six years with effect from 2014-15 and has been extended the autonomous status for a period of ten years from 2021-2022 to 2030-2031.

Mission

Department of Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering Department was established in 1981 and has existed since the college’s inception. It offers a B.E. Civil engineering course with an annual intake of 60 students.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) and Osmania University, Hyderabad, conferred the department with Autonomous Status from the Academic Year 2014-15. The NBA has accredited the department thrice and has accreditation till June 2024.
Besides high-quality teaching, the Department is actively involved in material testing and consultancy works. The department has 16 highly qualified and experienced faculty members consisting of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors with an average experience of 15 years and 13 technical and supporting staff with an average experience of 20 years.
Faculty members of the department adopt innovative teaching practices and methods of modern pedagogy for an effective teaching-learning process. Faculty members specialise in consultancy in concrete material testing, structural analysis, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering and geo-technical Engineering.
The Department has ten full-fledged laboratories, including a Centre for Geomatics and a project laboratory. The Department also has an exclusive computing facility with the latest Design, Planning and Management software, Remote Sensing, GIS, Land and Water Management, etc.
A good relationship with the industry is maintained for student training, student internships & projects, industrial visits, and expert lectures. Third-semester students will undergo practical training in professional practice school with various industries every year. In addition, regular Industrial visits are organized. Students take up internships in the industry from the second year. Final-year students take up projects in the industry.
The department has a vibrant research environment with links to government R&D institutes and industry and consultancy agencies. Government Agencies awarded the Department 2 Research Projects worth Rs.5.16 lakhs during the past five years. MODROBS-sanctioned project worth Rs 14 lakhs has been completed. The Department has three functional Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
